queenstown

"the adventure capital of the world" is what they call it.  if "they" is wikipedia or a tourist t-shirt shop.  probably because it's most well-known for all the extreme sports activities there are available in queenstown to participate in - jet boat riding, kayaking, river surfing, sky diving, canyoning, and the longest bungee in australasia (don't get your hopes up for another teary video).

as queenstown is located in the south island, i used one of my three day weekends - waitangi day weekend, of which i have no understanding of the significance - to make my first trip down.  albeit it was a short one, and i have been keeping it a secret because i'm kind of tired of hearing that i "need more time" to go to certain places.  probably true in this case, but i couldn't wait any longer to check it out.

i'm beyond glad that i did.  i know i've said this a lot and i'm probably making myself out to be a little bit of a hopelessly fickle romantic, but once again i managed to fall in love with a city.  it's definitely my favorite city in NZ so far, and probably up there in the top 5 that i've been to so far.

i know what you want to know: why?  well, i'd list all the reasons in this post for you, but where's the fun in that?
